Haiji Kiyose (清瀬 灰二, Kiyose Haiji?) is the deuteragonist in the series. He was a 4th-year literature student in Kansei University and a long time resident of Chikuseisou who was the resident of room 101 of Chikuseisou.
Appearance[]
Haiji has dark-brown hair, dark-brown eyes and he has a long jagged scar on his right knee.
He is often seen wearing a tracksuit. However, when he is just lounging around the house, he is seen wearing a plain grey t-shirt and a green plaid hanten.
Personality[]
Haiji has a friendly and outgoing personality, but underneath has a bit of a manipulative side. He's never willing to compromise on his dreams, even if it means reasonably threatening his housemates in the process.
Despite this, he is very caring towards his teammates. He has shown concern towards them throughout the show, making sure to call each Kansei runner before they run their leg of the Hakone Ekiden.

- The name Haiji means "ash" (灰) (hai) and "two" (二) (ji).
- Haiji's surname Kiyose means "clear, pure, clean" (清) (kiyo) and "swift current, rapids" (瀬) (se).
